Wellington ended up walloping the national provincial premiership leaders 60-14, in a display that belied the team's championship status. It'll be getting to a playoff match for promotion - and winning it - that determines the success or failure of the Lions' season.

After a long absence, reining Premiership Champions and traditional rivals Canterbury travel to Wellington to take on the Lions.

North v South bragging rights are on the line at Westpac Stadium. This is our second family friendly kick off - so rally the troops and come on down to cheer on your club heroes!

Wellington Rugby and their official 2017 charity partner SPCA, are inviting Lions fans to bring their dogs to the game in what will be a historic Mitre 10 Cup moment.
