All Blacks v Wales

Saturday 18 June 2016

Attendance:  35951

Score

All Blacks: 36
Wales: 22

Review

Great match in front of a capacity Wellington crowd. Four tries in 15 minutes saw the score go from half time result 10-10 to 36-10. The Wales defence, which had looked solid, all of a sudden began falling off tackles and the All Blacks began attacking with conviction. The team showed their diversity and ability to threaten in a variety of ways and from different situations. Twice they struck from long-range and twice from set-piece close to the line. When they put their minds to it they're difficult to stop.

New Zealand 36 (Israel Dagg, Ben Smith, Beauden Barrett, Waisake Naholo, Ardie Savea tries; Aaron Cruden con, pen, Barrett 3 con) Wales 22 (Alun Wyn Jones, Liam Williams, Jonathan Davies tries; Dan Biggar pen, 2 con). HT: 10-10.

The All Blacks came away with three victories to secure the silverware for another year with the Welsh team putting out a remarkable performance against three sold-out crowds.

There will be no Steinlager Series in 2017 due to the British & Irish Lions coming to New Zealand to play in 10 matches throughout the country.
