The Wellington Phoenix will be hosting their free annual Community Day on Sunday 6th October at Westpac Stadium.
The family-friendly event offers a great opportunity for Phoenix fans to engage with their local football heroes, as well as to see the squad in action against Team Wellington in a pre-season match.
There will be a wide range of activities on offer including football activities, a ‘behind the scenes’ tour of Westpac Stadium, food stalls, giveaways and live entertainment. The Phoenix will also launch the new Logitech E-Sports Arena and and unveil the brand new ‘Nixie’ mascot to the public.
It’s also a chance for the community to see the new 2019/20 Phoenix squad, including captain Steven Taylor and Head Coach Ufuk Talay, as they prepare for the season ahead.
Wellington Phoenix General Manager, David Dome, says the Community Day is not just a fun day for the public but also a crucial way for the Phoenix to give back to the community that supports them.
“There is plenty to be really excited about this season – new coach, new players, especially lots of young exciting New Zealand players - and it starts with the Community Day!"
“We’ve decided this year to bring it back to the Stadium and couple it with a pre-season match against Team Wellington – a great opportunity to see behind the scenes and for the fans to see the team in action one last time before we kick off against Western United on October 13.’’
The community day kicks off from 10am with free parking provided at the Stadium. The Wellington Phoenix v Team Wellington pre-season match starts at 2pm, with players available post-game for signing. Come along on Sunday 6th October and stand up with your Nix this season!
