FIFA Women's World Cup Venue Guide

 

The FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 is set to be the highlight of this year’s event calendar!

Wellington Regional Stadium is hosting nine matches in the tournament, seven group matches, one Round of 16, and one Quarter-Final.

We’ve put together some useful information, uniquely specific to our Wellington venue. Please take a few minutes to read this ahead of the tournament. Further information can be found on the FIFA Digital Fan Guide.

There are no pass outs during the matches.

Wellington Regional Stadium is now a cashless venue. All food and beverage outlets and merchandise stands accept EFTPOS and credit card.

For assistance on match day, please speak with a member of our security team, volunteer team or text Stadium Operations on 5454 with your location and details.

Important ticket information

  • There are no match day sales at the Stadium. You need to purchase tickets on the day from your home computer or through the FIFA.com app on your mobile device (you need a FIFA ticketing account).
  • This event is a fully mobile ticket event. Ensure your mobile device is fully charged.
  • To access your tickets, all ticket purchasers will need to download the FIFA Women’s World Cup Ticketing app. This can be done through the App Store or Google Play.
  • Log into your FIFA ticketing account on the app to access tickets. Ticket bar codes will be activated automatically prior to gates opening; a QR code will be displayed on the mobile ticket.
  • You can forward tickets on to others in your group via the FIFA Women’s World Cup Ticketing App only. Do this before arriving at the venue. 
  • On arrival at the gates, please ensure your ticket is ready on the FIFA Women’s World Cup Ticketing App and that your screen brightness is turned up. Ticketing staff will be on hand to assist if required.

  • If you require ticketing assistance, you can complete the Customer Care form here, or visit a Ticket Resolution Point (ticket box) at the venue on match days.

Getting to and from Wellington Regional Stadium

  • Public transport on all Metlink trains and buses is included with your match ticket. We strongly recommend using public transport for the tournament.
  • Buses and trains are running for each match, with additional services in operation for those matches expected to have larger crowds in attendance. Click here for more information.
  • Traffic restrictions will be in place before and after each match with some road or lane closures at Bunny St, Stout St, Thorndon Quay and Featherston St. Click here for a full list of road closures and for the matches.
  • There are no drop offs or pick ups permitted at the Stadium. All drop offs and pick ups must use Bunny Street, Stout Street or Thorndon Quay. 
  • There is no scooter parking for either Flamingo or Beam scooters at the Stadium on match days. These parking areas are at the bottom of the Thorndon spiral, in front of the Wellington Railway station and a the bottom of the Waterloo Quay overbridge, southbound side of the road.
  • There will be limited parking for those with personal e-scooters, which will be available along the eastern fence line of the Fran Wilde Walkway, just prior to the entry gates.
  • Limited bicycle parking is available on the ground level of the car park, under the western pedestrian ramp (train track side of car park), and along the eastern fence line of the Fran Wilde Walkway, just prior to the entry gates. Please check your transport routes in advance and leave plenty of time for your travel to Wellington Regional Stadium.

Accessibility information

  • Patrons with mobility requirements can be dropped off to the Stadium drop off lane - ground level of car park – from two (2) hours before kick-off. See below – Parking at Wellington Regional Stadium – for information on accessible parking on match days.
  • If you have mobility requirements, it is recommended you arrive early and allow yourself enough time to make your way to your seats.
  • Mobility carts will operate to transport those with mobility needs from the top of the Thorndon Spiral to the front gates. These services are also available after each match and will operate when it is safe to do so. 
  • Mobility carts will be operating to assist those who park in the accessible parking area from the lower level of the car park up to the entry gates.
  • Wheelchairs are available for use to assist those with mobility needs from the entry gates to their seats. Once you are in your seats, these are to be returned to the Information Booth at Aisle 18.
  • Sensory packs are available for use at no cost from the Information Booth at Aisle 18. Please return these to the Information Booth or a to volunteer at the end of the match.
  • Audio Descriptive Commentary will be available at the New Zealand v Philippines and USA v Netherlands matches. Find out more here, as well as full details on accessibility information for the tournament.

Parking at Wellington Regional Stadium

  • There is no car parking available at Wellington Regional Stadium between Thursday 20 July and Sunday 13 August, including all match days, for anyone.
  • Annual car park passes are not valid between Thursday 20 July and Sunday 13 August, including match days.
  • There are limited car parking facilities available at Wellington Regional Stadium on match day for those with accessibility needs. A valid mobility car park pass + spectator ticket must be presented on arrival to the Stadium car park. These will be issued on a first come first served basis and are free of charge.
  • Access to the car park for mobility car park holders is from two (2) hours before kick-off.

Entry Conditions

Please refer to FIFA's Prohibited Items information to confirm what you can and can't bring into the venue for the FIFA Women's World Cup. There are some differences to our usual Entry Conditions.

If you wish to bring a musical instrument, you can request this by completing a Fan Materials request form here. Minimum of 48 hours' notice is required. 

At the gates

  • Follow the direction of FIFA volunteers to enter through the correct turnstiles corresponding to your ticket: for Aisles 1-18 head left; Aisles 19-36 head right. 
  • Forward on tickets to others in your group before arriving.
  • Have your mobile ticket ready to scan at the entry turnstiles with barcode visible, and your screen brightness turned up high.
  • Bag search and wanding will be in place at the gates, so give yourself plenty of time to get inside the venue and leave any non-essentials at home. 
  • If you need to bring a bag, bags and backpacks are to be no bigger than 30x40cm, limited to one per person and must fit under your seat.
  • There is no bag check available at this event. There is limited storage space available to store baby strollers at the entrance gates.
  • You can bring in empty, plastic, refillable, unbranded water bottles (max.1 litre). Bottles made of glass, metal and squashable plastic (PET) are not permitted. Once inside, bottles can be filled from water coolers around the concourse. More information on this can be found here.
  • Professional cameras or audio recording devices are not permitted, including selfie sticks, GoPros, tablets or drones. Mobile phones, tablets and laptops are permitted.
  • FIFA is the only authorised ticket seller for this event. Tickets purchased from other sellers such as Viagogo, Tixel and others will not be accepted.

Accessing your seats

  • At the entrance gates, please enter through the relevant bank of turnstiles that matches your ticket.
  • Once inside the venue, please look for your aisle number to enter the seating bowl – head toward the left for Aisles 1-18 and to the right for Aisles 19-36.
  • Keep your ticket details open on your phone as tickets may be checked again before you reach your seat.
  • Your closest toilets, food and beverage outlets will be on the concourse nearest to your aisle, but you may find shorter queues if you walk a little further around the concourse.

Food and drink

  • Food and beverage outlets will be open around the concourse, concentrated around the areas where fans are sitting.
  • The Pavilion Bar and the Mezz Bar are closed to the general public.
  • Small amounts of non-commercially produced/packaged food for personal consumption are allowed to be brought into the venue.
  • Water stations and water fountains – providing free filtered water for drink bottles – are located at Aisles 2, 6, 9, 11, 24, 28 and 32. Free water is also available at all bars around the venue.
  • You can bring in empty, plastic, refillable, unbranded water bottles (max.1 litre). Bottles made of glass, metal and squashable plastic (PET) are not permitted. Once inside, bottles can be filled from water coolers around the concourse. More information on this can be found here.
  • Serving limits for alcoholic drinks per person may apply.
  • Wellington Regional Stadium is a cashless venue. All food and beverage outlets accept EFTPOS and credit card.

Stadium Facilities

  • Male, female and accessible bathrooms will be open around the concourse, serving the seating bays that are open for each event. If there are queues closest to your seats, walk a little further to find alternative options.
  • All lost property (either found or lost) can be reported to the Information Desk at Aisle 18.
  • Wellington Free Ambulance will be based at Aisle 1. If you need urgent medical assistance, please text 5454 with your location and the team will come to you.
  • General event and venue information booths are located at Aisles 1, 12, 18 and 25.
  • Wellington Regional Stadium is a smoke- and vape-free venue. Smoking areas are located on the inner plaza along the fence lines after you’ve entered through gates, and at the northern spiral at Aisle 34.

Merchandise

Official tournament merchandise will be available at the following locations:

  • The Pavilion Bar, located on the main Stadium concourse opposite Aisle 16.
  • On the concourse at Aisles 14 and 22.
  • One tent on the western side of the Fran Wilde Walkway before coming through the gates.

Wellington Regional Stadium is a cashless venue. All merchandise outlets accept EFTPOS and credit card. Opening times to be confirmed.

Exiting the venue

For those events with larger crowds expected, it will take some time patrons to exit the venue.  Please be patient and follow directions of staff for instructions on exiting.
