Westpac Stadium will be offering a special Indian-inspired menu for fans to enjoy at the international cricket fixtures in Wellington this February:
- BLACKCAPS v India ODI, Sunday 3 February
- WHITE FERNS and BLACKCAPS v India T20 Double Header, Wednesday 6 February
Created by the Stadium’s Food Service Provider Delaware North, the menu will feature a range of dishes including a dedicated curry outlet and a Food Bazaar area offering a range of street cart options such as samosa, lassis, fresh roti and sweet treats.
Ron Cherian, Delaware North General Manager at Westpac Stadium was excited by the opportunity to showcase some new flavours.
“We challenged our chefs to design a menu that would appeal both to our Indian fans but also for Kiwis looking to sample the amazing flavours of this cuisine”.
Westpac Stadium Chief Executive Shane Harmon said the special menu was a way to bring the game day experience to life.
“Food is such an important part of an event experience and we wanted fans supporting both teams to be able to enjoy some new, creative and exciting menu options while enjoying the cricket action on the field”.
A full range of food and beverage options will be available from other retail outlets around the venue with the Indian food options available from the dedicated areas around Aisle 27-29. Several of the food carts are provided by local Wellington Indian restaurant Planet Spice.
There will also be a pop-up Monteith’s bar located near Aisle 12 and a Waiheke Dairy Free Ice Cream pop up at Aisle 15 and a new Lamb Paddock outlet at Aisle 13/14.
Local Indian dance groups will be performing at various locations around the Stadium at both matches, providing live entertainment throughout the day.
Fans can also enjoy an enhanced event day experience at the T20 Double Header which falls on Waitangi Day and features a special performance by Kiwi band Drax Project between the WHITE FERNS v India game and the BLACKCAPS v India game.
